AMISH? NOT HERE!
If you’re looking for buggies and bonnets, you won’t find them in Amana. The Amish and Amana’s ancestors settled within 60 miles of each other eight years apart, sought sparsely-populated separatist communities, spoke German, and dressed conservatively. So, we get the confusion. Today, residents of the Amana Colonies dress in the latest fashions and even early on were progressive entrepreneurs in a variety of craft, appliance, and furniture industries.
